Interior Doors & Some Color

The interior doors finally arrived and they have been installed. We still need to decide on the hardware (knobs or pulls) for all the doors. I have an idea of what I want but I have a feeling my wife is not on board with my selection. The reason I say that is, when she looked at what I had in mind she said, "I'm not paying that much for a doorknob". Translation, "We will see honey."
We also have a first coat of paint in most rooms. Although the interior painting is not finished, you can still get a good idea of the colors of each room.

Entry door to Sarah's room. The wall color is Sherwin Williams - Charming Pink. All of the interior doors are 8 feet tall.

Standing in the loft looking at a closet to the left and the entry into Rebecca's room to the right. The color of the wall is the same as most of the downstairs; Sherwin Williams - Reflection. All of the door and window trim color is Benjamin Moore's - Simply White.

Rebecca loves the color she chose (SW - Spa). The base molding will be the same in the entire house. A simple look created with a 1x8 piece of trim.

Here you get a good look at both the window trim and the base molding. This is the master and the color is Benjamin Moore's - Marilyn's Dress.

To give you an idea of the look of the taller interior door, the side entry door on the left is a typical size of 6' 8". The door to the master straight ahead is 8'0".

We surprised Rebecca with a bench in her bathroom. She already has plans for the storage underneath. It will be PJ's and towels. Wall color is SW - Magical. Bench top is SW - Forget Me Not

The Gullah people were descendants of slaves and worked on plantations around the South Carolina low country and into Georgia. The Gullahs are the originators of the Haint Blue tradition of "painting" porches a blue-green color to ward off  spirits or haints. They thought these spirits couldn't cross water and therefore would be fooled by the blue color surrounding their door. They achieved the blue color by mixing milk, lime, and other pigments to create the bluish tint.
The porch ceiling blue here is Benjamin Moore's - Brittany Blue.

Holiday Break

With my builder on vacation for a few weeks, things are pretty quiet at the house. Over the holiday weekend, I took the opportunity to educate my children on the safe handling and firing of a rifle.

Pink rifle and a ponytail. Awesome.

Teaching Sarah the principles of loss prevention.
